"Our Lady of Quito"
as she is known in the English speaking
world is known in Ecuador as "La
Dolorosa," which means "The
Sorrowful Lady." She was officially
crowned by order of Pope Pius XII in 1956,
the fiftieth anniversary of the miracle
of her picture opening and closing its
eyes in front of forty children who attended
a Jesuit boarding school which was then
being targeted for persecution by the
Masons who were throttling this Catholic
country. Soon after, the miracle was also
witnessed by numerous adults, including
atheists who thereupon converted, when
the picture was transferred to a nearby
church. |
